I must try to find another way of presenting the material.
Please, give me some advice.
Maybe I can put out the video before the lecture and also the different cases and then we can discuss the cases on the lecture, instead of me standing there reading from the computer.

Well, next lecture will be different. No cases to go through. 🙂

  1. with the cases before lecture, we would come prepared and in this way could discuss more. just as we did with seminars. or even if we don’t discuss, we will be familiar with the terms and cases.

  2. The cases were very interesting, but because many people haven’t got the books yet, we don’t understand the theory part that well, for example vertical and horizontal effects that you talked about in the lecture. I think having cases and lecture information before lecture would help a lot.
    Also, because it is quite difficult subject, changing between Swedish and English makes it really hard to focus for people who don’t understand Swedish.

    • I agree with this! I think describing the different effects more in detail would have made us understand the cases better and how to evaluate them in a lawful way. Alternatively, as commented above, perhaps knowing the theories before each lecture by coming prepared by looking at material you have provided could mean we understand more efficiently during the lectures. It is difficult for Swede’s also to understand the ””law language”” in English as many words are advanced and you would have to be a native speaker practically to understand what some things mean in the cases and in the compendium.
      And… that may be the reason as to why some people lose their focus during the lectures.

    Could you please give us the webpages that you have used during the lectures?
    For finding the different cases, for example. You have also been into other webpages that I can’t remember what it was…
    Today during the lecture, you visisted a webpage as well. It is hard follow up sometimes.
    Would be great and very appriciated!!

      I am sorry, but I am not going to do that.
      The reason is that one of the learning outcomes of the course is to find relavant legal texts.
      All lectures are recorded. Please go back and watch the movies so you learn were to search for relevant texts.

    I would like to add here that recorded lectures are the best part about this course. Since there are so many references during the case, it is easy to follow up as I can pause the recorded lectures, listen them again if anything is not clear. you deliver the lectures in a very effective way.

    I have a question about the book ”undersanding the CISG” – The book refers to numbers that starts with §, and a number afterwards. What does that mean, does it refer to something as well?

      If you look in Appendix V in the book (last pages) you find a Table of CISG Provisions.
      There you find the different articles and a reference to were you find them in the book.

    i really appreciate your lessons, the way you speak is very understandable also for the international students.
    if can say something to change:
    -i think the parts with the translation in Swedish are not useful because there are a lot of international students that can be confused.
    -i suggest also that could be better to have a break of 10 minutes instead of 20 (as the other lectures) and maybe finish 10 minutes before (at 11.50) to have time to take buses, to have lunch…

    I think that the recorded lectures are really helpful and it’s really nice that you use several platforms like facebook, twitter and the webinars. Also the explanation of the articles are really good and easy to understand.
    The only thing I have to critizise is that I also think that the Swedish translations are very confusing and in my opinion a bit unnecessary, since lots of students are international and don’t understand them. Everyone in this course chose to do an international program.

    I don’t think it is a good idea to print the cases and all the information and read it beforehand. To be honest, I think its too much and not very understandable and you do a great job explaining all of it in a good way. Therefore, I would say the way you explained everything in the third lecture was great and does not need change!

    During the course introduction, you talked about the examination and how it will be a ”multiple choice” based one than a written one and you said that you will put out samples of the exam after every topic. i was wondering if you could try to put them up so we get use to it earlier. if you could recommend a reading codes for CISG too as you did with THE EU LAW book would be amazing !

    And yeah your effort with the lectures and the videos is incredible. i like it and appreciate it.

    I just started to work with our Compendium for our case analysis and I realized that the page numbers stated in the table of contents are not matching with the actual pages. Do you think that this could have a negative effect in an exam situation when we are searching for the correct articles?

      I’m not sure I understand what you mean.
      The page no on bottom, middle of page, are matching the table of contents.

      • The Page number on the bottom is not matching. But the page number on top is matching, as far as I understood.
        Though, Those page numbers stops, where the protocols start.

    In the instructions for the assignent the following is stated, ”The ANALYSIS should not exceed 6 pages…” so shall the assignment be 6 pages including frontpage or shall the assignment be x pages with an analysis of no more than 6 pages. An clarification for this would be appriciated.

    The lecture was good and easy to understand, but i would like to ask you a question on atricle 12. when you were explaining the rights of adaptation, arrangement and other alterations of literary and artistic work, you mentioned that it is only the author that has authority and exclsuive right to authorise these kind of adaptations or alterations and even if the person bought the copyright they still don’t own the right to alter. so a question i had in mind was does this include the movies that are made from adaptions of books but don’t include everything from the book in the movie or may be add something that was not on the book.? if they bought the copyright to make a movie adaptation of the book but did not tell the author that they are going to alter his work can he sue them on the provision of article 12?

      Yes, and no.
      You sue based on national law in the country were the alleged infringement occurs. Swedish law has a similar wording as article 12 in Berne Convention, see article 28 in Swedish Copyright Act.
      In reality, you have a contract that will regulate how much can be changed without consent from the author.

      Yes, upload the file in the groups focusarea under Documents.
      Read about all articles that I have talked about on the lectures.
      The opposition in the assignment is your personal opinions based on facts.

  18. Hi,
    my question is also related to the opposition paper.
    1- How can we find the document of an other group on whom we are required to write an opposing paper?
    2- Should the opposition be more focused on analysis? Since we are not in a position to oppose the decision of ECJ, I assume that we should comment on analysis and how the other group carried on the whole assignment till the end.
    3- For the presentation of our case and the opposing paper, are we required to make a ppt-presentation or is it not necessary?

    two question are arising regarding the opposition papes. Did I understand it right, that we have to participate in a webinar. So, does that mean we are not meeting in school the 18th and 19th. If yes, could you describe the process a little bit clearer.
    Secondly, does each member of a group has to write a page, or is it enough if the whole group has one page?

      No, the seminar is a mandatory lecture, please look att the instruction and the schedule!
      The instruction says that opposition paper is a group work.

    By the follwing word on the instructions: ”The opposition paper, in PDF, should be uploaded into JKF-time program at latest December 16th at 12 AM”

    My conclusion is that you meant the 16th at 23:59. Or else i think your toughts would be 15th at 23:59.

    should the oppoistion group send the feedback to their respective group apart from uploading on thier focusarea ”document” ? or you are going to open for us as the way you did with the first assignment? we thought that we could look through the feedback and come with their suggestions on the seminar day but our opposition group did not upload any feedback to us yet. so we were wondering if the deadline for the feedback is yet or it is just that we are going to get it on the spot on the presentation day from the opposition goup?

      I will read and grade your work after the seminar.
      You will get my feedback posted on JKF-Time. After that you have some time to upload a revised version of your work.
      After that is done, I will read your work again and then set the final grade.
